The Millicent Library’s annual Teddy Bear Parade on 8/31/24 had one of the largest crowds ever, with more than 250 participants, despite the date being changed from 8/17 due to rainy weather.
Lynn Chumack and her daughter Kaitlyn, 25, had their favorite stuffed animals with them: 45-year-old Coco and 22-year-old Cupcake.
Young sisters Adriana and Sophia said they were a “little excited” as they waited for the parade to begin, Adriana with Lady Cheetah, and Sophia with Rainbow Bear.
Daisy D. Dots led the parade with Miss Tilly Dilly and the Millicent Teddy Bear. The route went through the grounds of Our Lady’s Haven where residents got treated to the sights and sounds of the parade, and paraders got treated to sweets provided by the residents.
After the parade, DDD and the rest of her team, including Timber Carpenter and Jill Souza painted faces, blew bubbles, and played lawn games while David Sterenchock roamed around with his guitar playing and singing children’s songs, on the lawn of the Unitarian Church, and children also enjoyed free treats.
Allie Thiel, Head of Youth Services at the Millicent told the marchers it was the 39th parade.
