Team Acushnet shirts give pride and a little $$

January 19, 2022 by Staff Writer

Acushnet Council on Aging Director Heather Chew receives a check for $1411 from Tom Farland, the proceeds of “Team Acushnet” t-shirt sales. The shirts were created when the pandemic started and the Acushnet team made it a mission to test as many people as possible every week. When the pandemic began in 2020, “Team Acushnet” tee shirts were sold, with the proceeds to benefit the Acushnet Senior Center. The Acushnet Firefighters Union (IAFF 3281) fronted the cost of the shirts and acted as the project’s savings account. These funds will assist our town’s senior population.

The front of the shirt has the town seal with an extra ring of type around it reading “Together we can flatten the curve,” a reference to lowering the amount of COVID infections, which are depicted on a graph as a curve. The back of the shirt lists the supporters.
