The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program is busy recruiting volunteers for the upcoming tax season. The program benefits low to moderate income families, primarily seniors, by providing free tax services.
We are looking for two types of volunteers. The first opportunity is to greet taxpayers as they arrive in the Fall River office, checking them in, handing out forms and otherwise acting in an administrative capacity. All that is required is a CORI check and to attend the new volunteer orientation on December 1st.
The second role is as a volunteer tax preparer, needed at all of our sites. Volunteer tax preparers work directly with clients to prepare and file returns. No tax experience is required because volunteers receive extensive training, culminating in IRS certification.
The majority of volunteers work two half-day shifts a week with flexible scheduling available to fit a variety of needs.
