The remnants of Hurricane Dorian came our way in the form of a nor’easter, bringing wind gusts of 37 MPH over the weekend, and more than two inches of rain. Two boats sank at their moorings in Round Cove in Fairhaven and the Compass Rose capsized in North Cove on Saturday 9/7. The Fairhaven Harbormaster and his staff were pretty busy running from one sunken vessel to the next.
The TowboatUS/New Bedford crew and the Fairhaven Harbormaster crew worked together to get the Compass Rose upright and pump out the water. Then the boat was lashed to the TowboatUS vessel, towed to a ramp, and hauled from the water. Photos by Beth David.
