The Fairhaven Selectboard has scheduled a special town meeting for Thursday, 6/30, at 7 p.m., at Hastings Middle School.
The purpose of the STM is to vote on the disposition of the Oxford School building. The article was passed over at the annual town meeting in May so that the Stratford Group, which has offered $325,000 for the building, could get more information to town meeting members.
The board, in response to requests from the public, has asked the SG to provide more detailed drawings of the site plan and building. The new documents will include a street level rendering of the building, so people can see how it will look from the street.
The new documents will be submitted a couple of weeks before the STM and will be posted on the town’s website for the public to access.
The STM is being paid for by the Stratford Group, not the town.
So far, there are only a few articles on the warrant. The board called the meeting for the Oxford issue only, but included a related article that would authorize the old fire station on the property to tie into town sewer. The North Fairhaven Improvement Association rents the building from the town and the deal with Stratford includes carving out that part of the property for the NFIA to continue occupying the space.
Another article will allow TM to vote on any union contracts that may be decided before then.
Articles must be submitted by Monday, 6/6, by noon, to be included on the warrant.
Contact the Selectboard’s office for details on requirements to submit an article, 508-979-4023, Ext. 2.
