The Unitarian Universalist Society of Fairhaven, 102 Green St., welcomes the community for a rare opportunity to hear UMass Dartmouth Professor Jing Wang perform music on the erhu, a Chinese stringed instrument.
The service begins at 10 a.m. March 1. Rev. Maria Uitti McCabe’s sermon centers on the question, “What’s in Your Cup?”
Ms. Wang is a composer and a performer of diverse styles of music. Her compositions have been presented in more than 20 countries across the globe.
As an active erhu performer, she has introduced the Chinese indigenous instrument into the Western contemporary music scene with her compositions for chamber ensemble, avant-garde jazz improvisations, and multicultural ensembles. She has performed erhu concertos with several symphony orchestras in the United States.
The church and parish house are accessible to the handicapped via a ramp off the Center Street driveway. For more information about the church, call 508-992-7081 or visit uufairhaven.org.
