If the Grinch has his way (again), Southcoast may be void of any snow on the ground or in the air, Christmas Day, 2024.
From a high of 68 degrees in 2015 to a low of 6 Below zero in 1989, the temperature spectrum is vast on Christmas Days in Southern New England.
The long range extended outlook shows a possible mix rain/snow event around Christmas Eve. (Source: https://www.weatherforyou.com/ report/fairhaven-ma-extended. As of 12/17/24 the chances of show are increasing as we approach Christmas Day 2024. Forecast subject to change this far out, but good confidence at this time, so snow-lovers, stay tuned!
ML’s NOTE: I caution that snow in the air and snow on the ground are two different things. The extended forecast shows aggressive cold air snow support for a few systems headed our way. A snowy weekend (Dec 21-22) is very likely!
Past records indicate nothing new, with a few exceptions (Christmas Day unless otherwise noted).
