On the 15th anniversary of the 9-11-01 terrorist attacks, the Fairhaven Lions Club along with the Fairhaven Boys Scouts Troop 52 and Cub Scout Pack 52, held a US Flag Retirement Ceremony at Benoit Square in Fairhaven. Lion Bill Kligel, the master of ceremonies, did a great job including as many as possible to participate in the Ceremonies. Army Sergeant Bobby Ortiz and Marine SSG Dennis Masdea gave tribute to Pvt. Ernest Benoit and LCpl Patrick Gallagher who are memorialized at Benoit Square. The Fairhaven Lions wish to thank all who attended the Ceremony, including all men and women from the Armed Services, Fairhaven Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, the singing group BLT for their rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, Fairhaven EMT’s and to NFIA for the use of their building.
