Our Guest John Miller, Exec. Dir. of New England Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo), will discuss “Harnessing Tidal Energy; The Cape Cod Railroad Bridge Test Site.” John will share details about the great potential of this nascent industry and challenges, and report on MRECo’s Bourne site, where tidal turbines made by Littoral Power Systems, a New Bedford company, are being tested. Tidal turbines spinning in 6-knot water flow can capture a force equivalent to wind turbines spinning in a hurricane-force wind.
This will be a “hybrid” event. We urge that those attending in-person be vaccinated. For those who prefer not to attend, we will make a videotape available after the event.
