Jamie Jacquart, Assistant Director of Campus Sustainability at The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, will be discussing “What’s The Deal with Heat Pumps?”
Jamie will be joined by Glenn Morel, a technician with considerable experience installing heat-pump systems and an instructor in the HVAC/R program at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School; and Dan Amarante, a graduate of the same program who has worked for several HVAC companies and serves as a training rep for Plumbers Supply Co.
For more than a century, humans have been burning fossil fuels in order to heat their homes and using electricity to cool them. However, by all indications, the next generation of heating and cooling will be powered by heat pump technologies. But what exactly are heat pumps? How do they work? What do they cost? And why does transitioning to them really matter to society. The speakers will also be sharing information from the MassSave program, including what incentives are available.
