Santa visits Acushnet for annual lighting

December 4, 2024 by Staff Writer

By Beth David, Editor

The Acushnet Fire Department held its annual lighting of the Christmas display on Sunday, 12/1/24, and Santa came with Mrs. Claus, but so did the Grinch. Mr. Grinch stole a package from the display and made a quick getaway through the crowd. Unfortunately for him, an Acushnet police officer apprehended him just outside the building and recovered the package. Many of the children saw Mr. Grinch run off, but most were not worried, and the festivities did not suffer from his shenanigans.

There was free hot chocolate and cookies, and people could order Girl Scout Cookies from Daisy Troop 63502. The Ford Middle School Choir led the crowd in a singalong as they waited for Santa and Mrs. Claus to arrive.

The display will be lit up every night until January at Fire Station #1, 24 Russell Street (Parting Ways).
