Ryan Rezendes running unopposed for Acushnet Selectboard

March 18, 2026 by Staff Writer

Ryan Rezendes is running unopposed for a seat on the Acushnet Selectboard in the 4/28/26 election. Submitted photo.

My name is Ryan Rezendes. I am running for Acushnet Board of Selectmen. I am a married, father of three boys, Local 56 Piledriver, an avid hunter, outdoorsman and a 13-year resident of Acushnet.

For 5 years I served on the Conservation Commission as a member and chairman. Most recently, a member of the Town Administrator Search Committee and I am currently vice chairman of the Master Plan Committee. I love this town. That’s why I’m running for Board of Selectmen.

Transparency and accountability are number one. Open dialogue. On the record. A solution to every problem can be solved if we discuss the issue.

I don’t claim to have all the answers. If we put our heads together and discuss the issue at hand, we can find common ground and a reasonable solution. I will work cooperatively with my colleagues and with other town boards to achieve our goals.

I think a Selectman should be accessible. I will make myself available via phone, email or in person. My decisions will be based on the voices of residents and the town’s best interests. A leader should be available to listen to concerns, address them directly, and/or bring them before the board.

Our town’s budget is tight. Minimal local aid from the state is a major contributor. I will be a mosquito in the ear of our state representatives to remind them of just that. The path we are on is not sustainable for our residents and raising taxes via a Proposition 2 1/2 override is not an option. We pay enough.

The state government needs to get their priorities straight and give back to the people funding it.

Our bylaws are the law of the land and must be enforced. You cannot waive a bylaw, they apply to every resident. In the past, it seems, if you knew someone they could be circumvented. The playing field will be even under my leadership and the bylaws will apply to all. However, I feel some of our bylaws are antiquated and should be amended to benefit the town as a whole.

I am not a politician. I am just a man who will look out for the best interests of the town. I have thick skin. I will gladly discuss your opinions, advice, insights and criticisms.

We have to work together and I’m a team player. I am approachable, accessible and will be receptive to your issues. I respectfully ask for your vote on April 28th. a
