New Moon Roller Disco returns to Buttonwood Park on Saturday, June 20, from 3-7 PM, bringing an afternoon of skating, dancing, music, and community celebration to one of New Bedford’s most scenic public spaces.
The event will begin with a free skate lesson led by Amy Caracappa, followed by open skating. Music will be provided by New Moon resident DJs baye, Corey Jones, and Neil Matheson, who will keep the courts rolling with an eclectic mix of disco, funk, soul and house.
New Moon Roller Disco is made possible through support from the New Bedford Local Cultural Council and the New Bedford Parks & Recreation Department, whose continued partnership helps make the event accessible to the entire community.
For those without skates, the Southcoast Shipwreckers Junior Roller Derby will once again provide its free Skate Library, offering loaner skates throughout the event. Attendees are also encouraged to donate gently used skates to help expand the program and increase access to the sport.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite disco-inspired attire, bring friends and family, and join the celebration on wheels.
Let’s roll, New Bedford!
