The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum (RJD), in partnership with DATMA and the James Arnold Mansion, will be open for free visitation on Sunday, August 20, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The two mansions, connected by County Street and marriage (James Arnold married Sarah Rotch, daughter of William Rotch Jr.), are co-hosting a day of activities. Visitors to the RJD will have the opportunity to tour the house and garden, enjoy a refreshing glass of lemonade, and play lawn games. At the Arnold Mansion, visitors will tour the house and grounds (the original Arnold Arboretum), learn about the property’s historic trees, and chat over fruit punch and cookies. Visitors can also learn more about DATMA’s Shelter 2023 programming and public art exhibitions.
The RJD Museum is at 396 County Street, visit rjdmuseum.org; the James Arnold Mansion is at 427 County Street.
