Acushnet will have two contested races on the ballot in April, including the Selectboard race. Incumbent Garry Rawcliffe faces a challenge from Roger Cabral.
The Housing Authority will also see a battle for one 5-year term with incumbent Lawrence Mulvey facing a challenge from Robert Lanzoni.
Other races have one candidate or, in the case of town moderator, no takers at all.
Long time moderator Robert Francis decided not to run for re-eleciton and no one took out papers for his position.
Brian Deschamps is running unopposed for the Planning Commission to finish the remainder of a term expiring in 2018.
Uncontested positions up for re-election are: Incumbent Pamela Labonte for town Clerk; Assessor Marc Cenerizio for re-election; Marc Cenerizio for re-election to the Planning Board; Henry Preston, incumbent, and Joan Howland for two seats on the library Board of Trustees; Incumbent Robert St. Jean for Park Commissioner; Andrew Gomes to finish an unexpired term ending in 2018 that he was appointed to fill; David Deterra and Jody Tavares, both for re-election to the School Committeep; incumbent Joanne Cioper for the Cemetery Board; incumbent Raymond Barlow for Tree Warden; Rober Medeiros, running for re-election to the Board of Health.
The election will be held on Monday, 4/3. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
You have until March 14 to register to vote. You may vote in person at the town clerk’s office, town hall, 122 Main St., Acushnet. Call 508-998-0215 for information on mail-in voter registration.
