Rapoza Family donates FHS drawing to Millicent Library

March 13, 2019 by Staff Writer

John Rapoza and his family donated a drawing of Fairhaven High School, created by their father Joseph Rapoza, a former art teacher at FHS, to The Millicent Library. Library Director Carolyn Longworth gratefully accepted the gift for the library on Saturday, March 8. Friends of the Millicent Library’s Board member Janice Randall, a teaching colleague of Mr. Rapoza, sought support from the Friends to honor his memory with a plaque attached to one of the 100 new chairs purchased from public donations for the library by the Friends. Her contact to inform family members of the donation led to the reciprocated gift of Mr. Rapoza’s drawing of Fairhaven High School to the Millicent Library. Beth Luey, President of the Friends, assisted Ms. Randall in welcoming the family members to the ceremony.

Carolyn Longworth, Director of the Millicent Library in Fairhaven, accepts a drawing from John Rapoza at a ceremony on 3/18/19. The sketch was created by Mr. Rapoza’s father Joseph. Submitted photo.
