Rain does not stop Apple Peach Festival parade

September 17, 2025 by Staff Writer

On a day honoring the town’s agricultural past and present, heavy rain wasn’t going to keep the people of Acushnet indoors.

With an assist from a rainbow of umbrellas and raincoats, the annual Apple Peach Festival parade on Sunday, 9/7/25, went on as planned at 10 a.m., making a soggy slog down Main Street.

The rain was a sprinkle as the vehicles amassed near Pope Park, but by the time the convoy began moving down Main Street toward the Festival grounds it was pouring down at a heavy clip.

That didn’t keep families along the route from cheering, and parade participants flashing big smiles as they waved to the townspeople and tossed candy — much of which wound up in inches water by the roadside. Kids armed with plastic bags and rain boots splashed into the fray to collect their goodies.

Despite the weather, there were folks at the foot of every side street and sidewalk for the parade, which featured a classic mix of local businesses and organizations, vintage farm gear and families.

The two-day festival features craft and vendor booths, live entertainment, and activities for children. Visit  https://applepeachfestival.com/ for more information.
