Cinema New Bedford is pleased to partner once again with the Southcoast LGBTQ Network to screen acclaimed films that speak to LGBTQ populations, allies, and everyone who celebrates freedom of expression, love, and liberation. Our films this year center strong and fully developed LGBTQ characters and perspectives, and also highlight the beauty of friendship and support. SHIP OF HEARTS features four feel good films that make us *all* happy and gay.
The month-long series kicks off with opening night festivities! Before Love, Simon on 6/7, join us for a pre-film red carpet and information fair, from 5:30-7pm.
The South Coast LGBTQ+ Network is pleased to sponsor Cinema New Bedford’s presentation of “Ship of Hearts” at the Zeiterion, 684 Purchase St., New Bedford, a series that speaks to the heart of relationships, friendships, and allyships within the LGTBQ+ community. Featured films include Love Simon, Flee, Framing Agnes, and Booksmart. Films will run throughout Pride Month.

Winner of the Best World Cinema Documentary prize at Sundance, a People’s Choice Award at TIFF, and nominated for an Academy Award, FLEE is a beautifully constructed animated documentary about a young man with a big secret who is forced to flee Afghanistan as a child. Framing Agnes Hot on the heels of its 2022 Sundance premiere, FRAMING AGNES blends fiction and non-fiction story elements to recount how trans women in the 1950’s had to play the system and out maneuver the “authorities” at the UCLA gender clinic to get what they needed to live their lives fulfilled. Featuring Zackary Drucker, Jen Richards, Silas Howard, and Jules Gill-Peterson. Join us for a post-show conversation with director Chase Joynt and documentary participant Jules Gill-Peterson, PhD.
