The sixth annual Picnic on the Lawn was held on Saturday August 3rd on the lawn of the Unitarian Memorial Church in Fairhaven.  Sponsored and underwritten by Howe Allen Realty, the proceeds of the event go to support the work of the Fairhaven Historical Society, which operates a museum on the second floor of the Academy Building, adjacent to Fairhaven High School.

This year, thanks to the generous assistance of Erik McClure and Ben Philbrook of Chase Canopy, the event was held under a tent, eliminating any need to relocate the event in case of rain. An addition this year: RonPorzio and Saphire Event Group donated a set of white chairs to the Unitarian church which were first used for this year’s picnic.

Created and donated by Bruce Gatz, this birdhouse of the Academy Building, where the Fairhaven Historical Society maintains a museum, sits waiting patiently for the bids to start flowing at the sixth annual Picnic on the Lawn at the Unitarian Memorial Church in Fairhaven on 8/3/19. A silent auction was held, with local businesses and individuals generously donating goods and services for the cause.

The next major event on the calendar for the Fairhaven Historical Society is the Holiday House Tour, which will be held on Sunday, December 8th.

Please check their facebook page @HistoricalSocietyFairhaven or their webpage, fairhavenhistory.org for upcoming events.

Inspired by “Diner en Blanc,” which started in Paris more than 25 years ago, the event requires everyone who attends to dress in white, with tables draped in white, to create a photogenic effect. No paper or plastics utensils are allowed.
