May Peters, the owner of Peters Family Orchard on Main Street in Acushnet, said the apple orchard will not be opening this month, as had been reported in some news outlets.
Ms. Peters announced her retirement last year, but then decided a couple of months ago, to open for the season.
In a phone interview this week, she said unforeseen circumstances, including this year’s crazy weather, caused a change of plans once again.
The farm was slated for sale and development, but, she said, no lots have been sold, and that plan is also on hold.
She is hoping to find a way to keep it a working farm, although she is retired.
