Pedestrian killed in Sconticut Neck Road accident

A woman who was hit by a car on Sconticut Neck Road near Manhattan Avenue on Tuesday, 2/28/23, has died. Carolyn Preece, 81, of Fairhaven died on Monday at St. Luke’s Hospital, according to a statement by the the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. No charges have been filed against the 67-year old driver, a Fairhaven woman, who remained on the scene after the crash.
The driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol, and did not have a cell phone on her, according to the statement.
“The victim was not in a cross walk, was wearing dark clothing and visibility was poor at the time of the incident,” reads the statement. “Investigation ongoing, but this appears to be a tragic accident.”
