Six-acre Palmers Island, located on the Acushnet River on the west side of the entrance to New Bedford Harbor, has been the scene of great heroism and tragedy. The lighthouse was once considered one of New England’s most picturesque. Palmers Island is now home to a local park, and offers beach access in need of some TLC: Trash & Litter Control.
Many volunteers are needed to make Palmers Island the picturesque island nature intended it to be. This is our only cleanup of Palmers Island this year (and our third try, the other two got canceled due to the weather). Contact: newbedfordclean@gmail.com
