The cupola that once sat atop the Oxford School building is back home. On Saturday, 1/9/21, volunteers from A-1 Crane lifted the iconic piece and placed it atop the roof.
Keith Silvia and his son Danny restored the cupola, repairing and replacing rotton boards, etc., and painting it.

“It took us some time…. but today with the hard dedicated work of Keith Silvia, Danny and crew along with Patrick Carr and his crew at A1 crane, we were able to fulfill our promise and return the cupola back to its home,” wrote the Fairhaven Bell Committee on its Fcebook page. “Thank you to Keith and his son for their many hours of work. Thank you to A1 Crane company who volunteered their time and services, and to the people who volunteered their time and effort that helped make this possible. Thank you, also, to Peter DeTerra for allowing use of his facility to enable the work to progress.”
The former elementary school is going to be converted to affordable housing units. Construction is set to start this spring.
