InDowncity/Providence starting on May 8. Each Saturday from 12–6 p.m., Westminster Street will close to vehicle traffic between Eddy and Union streets, providing more space for pedestrians to take to the street for socially distanced shopping and dining. The program will continue through the end of 2021.

In addition to special offerings by participating businesses, there will be live music performances in collaboration with Providence World Music and rotating food trucks along the street. Visitors to Open Air Saturdays are asked to follow COVID protocols. No-touch hand sanitizing stations will be provided along Westminster Street.
The City of Providence is extending free two-hour parking at metered spaces downtown through 2021, from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. This includes streets bounded by Fountain Street, Memorial Boulevard, Weybosset Street, Empire Street and Friendship Street (from Dyer Street to Dorrance Street). For those who prefer a parking lot, the Biltmore Garage offers contactless payment for parking at 51 Washington Street.
