Acushnet Fire Department Press Release
Acushnet Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of South Main Street and Jean Street for a report of a motor vehicle versus motorcycle accident on Thursday evening, 9/24/26, at approximately 9:14 p.m. On arrival, first responders located a motorcycle lying in the roadway next to a vehicle and the lone rider, a 21-year-old male, on the ground nearby. The victim was unresponsive at the scene and medical care was provided by members of both departments. The victim was stabilized and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital Trauma Center in New Bedford, MA by Acushnet Fire & EMS Paramedics, where he was stabilized and subsequently transported to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center in Providence. The operator of the vehicle was trans-ported to St. Luke’s Hospital by Fairhaven Fire-EMS for further evaluation
South Main Street remained closed for several hours while members of the Acushnet Police Department and Massachusetts State Police CARS (accident reconstruction and investigation team) conducted an investigation of the incident.
The name of the victim is being withheld at this time pending the open investigation into the accident.
