Jackson Gillman will be performing A Mid-Winter Night’s Dream at the Shepherd Center for the Arts, 34 Center Street, Sun., 2/1, at 3 p.m. Tickets: $20.
What better way to celebrate Groundhog Day than with a storytelling performance o “A Mid-Winter Night’s Dream” by Stand-up Chameleon Jackson Gillman? Early in his performance career, Jackson was dubbed a chameleon for his penchant to change into many different characters while entertaining audiences of all ages.
During this wintry fantasy, one of those characters will be an adventurous groundhog named Dreyfus. This will lead the audience to wonder whether — is it a groundhog or Jackson who leaves his den to go on a snowy walkabout, track an otter, go airborne after an exhilarating slide, plunge into icy water, somehow survive hypothermia and dance under the Northern Lights with an angel? Jackson swears that much of these winter adventures are true-life. This warm-hearted story will surely be a wild ride, and intriguing fun trying to divine fact from fiction.
This fanciful escapade is geared for adults but older children can easily follow and enjoy the story as well, so families are welcome.
