Robert M. Parent, 73, of Fairhaven passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Edward and Marguerite (Rogissart) Parent, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and active communicant of St. Mary’s Church where he served as an usher, was a member of the Our Lady of Angels Society and the Golden Agers Club.
Robert had worked for the Fairhaven Highway Department for 33 years retiring in 2002. He was an active member of the Fairhaven Lions Club and the North Fairhaven Improvement Association. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and following the local sports teams.
He is survived by three brothers, Edward D. Parent, Sr. and his wife Sarah of Hamburg, PA, Arthur L. Parent and his wife Mariette of Mattapoisett and Rene A. Parent of Fairhaven; a niece, Dr. Jennifer Drake and her husband Carl of VA; a nephew, Benjamin Parent and his wife Jodi of PA and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. Parent was the uncle of the late Capt. Edward D. Parent, Jr. USAF and Kris Parent Elkins.
In accordance with his wishes Robert will be cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment will be private and calling hours omitted. Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.
