Naomi Shaw, 78, passed away peacefully on May 2, surrounded by loved ones.
Born January 27, 1948, in South Carver, MA, to David L. Shaw and Eleanor G. Reis, she was raised in Middleborough and later lived in Fairhaven and Wareham, MA.
Naomi earned a master’s degree in english literature and taught at Fairhaven High School for 32 years, serving as head of the English Department. She was a devoted educator who inspired generations of students to pursue their dreams. She enjoyed hosting gatherings with friends and cherished time with her family. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Fairhaven, where she sang in the choir and served as a docent.
She is a by her daughter, Jessica Shaw Battaini; her grandchildren, Penelope and Julian Woods; her brother, David Shaw; and her nephews, David, Craig, and Scott Shaw. A memorial service will be held on June 6 at 10:00 AM at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 102 Green Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
