Leonard F. Tchorz
Leonard F. Tchorz, 95, of Fairhaven died peacefully on October 20, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital with his family by his side.
He was the husband of the late Diane M. (Heise) Tchorz.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he lived in Fairhaven most of his adult life.
He was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in the New Bedford fleet and retired from the Steamship Authority.
Mr. Tchorz enjoyed recreational fishing, yardwork, cooking and camping.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his 4 sons, Steven “Skip” Tchorz and his wife Becky of Selmer, TN, John Tchorz and his wife Kimberly of Carlsbad, CA, Tom Tchorz and his wife Pamela of New Bedford and David Tchorz and his partner Kati Alley of Oak Bluffs; 2 daughters, Shelley Molnar of Warren, NJ and Susan Tchorz of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Anne Barboza and Kathleen Castello, both of Florida; 9 grandchildren, Haylie, Brett, Kayla, Jared, Kristen, Andrew, Matthew, Steven, Jr. and Greg; 5 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Bonnie, Spencer, Sasha and Steven III and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Sandra King, the brother of the late Michael Almeida and Francis Almeida, great-grandfather of the late Aleksandr Pfersich and the father-in-law of the late Michael Molnar.
His visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 10th from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
