Obituary: Allen Days

Allen E. Days, Sr. 

Allen E. Days, Sr., 88, of Fairhaven passed away at home Thurs­day, September 18, 2025 sur­rounded by his loving family after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of 68 years to Florina “Flo” (Talbot) Days. 

Born and raised in Fairhaven, son of the late Enos E. Days, Jr. and Hazel (Sampson) Days, he was a graduate of Coyle High School in Taunton and then served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Allen was the owner/operator of Days Electric and Days Health and Sports in Fairhaven for many years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven. 

Allen was the originator and Race Director of the Fairhaven Father’s Day Road Race for 51 years. All proceeds of which benefit the local community. He ran numerous road races and marathons over the years. He was a member and former Treasurer of the Fairhaven Lions Club and was very active in many charities throughout his life. Allen received the 2003 Rotary Club of Fairhaven, Service Above Self, Man of the Year Award, a 2010 Fairhaven High School Hall of Fame inductee, 2014 Standard Times Man of the Year and he was also Past President of the St. Joseph’s Church Couples Club. 

He is survived by his loving wife Flo; his children, Karen L. Peckham and her husband Robert of Dart­mouth, Allen E. Days, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Fairhaven and Carol-Ann Days-Merrill and her husband Paul of Madison, NH; 10 grandchildren, Katie Peckham, Kellie Shockley, Julia, Jacob, Jordan, Joshua and Justin Days and Taylor, Sarah and Steven Days-Merrill; three great grand­children, Collin, Xander and Taylor “TJ”; a brother Paul Days of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews. Allen was the brother of the late June Smith. 

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven. The family will be receiving visitors from 9:30AM until the start of the Mass. At the conclusion of the Funeral Mass, the procession will follow the route of the 10K Fairhaven Road Race to his final resting place in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven. For memorial register please visit, www.hathawayfunerals.com. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial dona­tions may be made to a charity of your choice.
