Works for Solo Viola, Sat., 4/25, 7 p.m. Join us for a special evening of music with NBSO violist Maureen Heflinger! Featuring an enjoyable mix of short pieces and movements including special permission from John Luther Adams for Maureen to perform his Maclaren Summit and a finale featuring an arrangement by Maureen accompanying herself in Elgar’s Salut d’amour with a surprise appearance by a special guest!
Spirit Through Isolation, Sun., 4/26, 4 p.m.: Emmalee Holmes-Hicks, Adrienne Taylor. NBSO musician Emmy Holmes-Hicks (violin) invites her downstairs neighbors, good friends and wonderful musicians Adrienne Taylor (cello) and Andrei Baumann (piano) to join her for the next installment of living room soirees. The trio performs one of their favorites, the Brahms B Major piano trio, a luscious and enveloping piece that promises to transport listeners. This musical centerpiece will be surrounded by the lively spirited Polonaise Brilliant by Chopin and the quirky fun Graceful Ghost Rag by Bolcom.
