The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that crews and contractors will be conducting demolition work to remove the I-195 viaduct bridge structure in New Bedford, beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, and continuing for approximately 30 days.
As part of these operations, crews will also be conducting nightly work from Sunday, February 8, through Thursday, February 19, from 9:00 p.m., to 5:00 a.m. the following morning, not including Friday and Saturday.
Traffic impacts will include lane shifts and closures on Route 18, Cedar Grove Street, County Street, and Purchase Street. Impacts will vary as work progresses and operations shift.
Appropriate signage will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
