Approximately 150 people took advantage of the Fairhaven Visitors Center Monday Morning Fun program on 7/17. Office of Tourism Director Christopher Richard said all three Mondays so far this season have been especially well attended. Some of the mom groups have discovered it, he said, and have spread the word via social media.
“It’s been really, really fantastic,” said Mr. Richard. “That’s two reallys.”
On Monday, the program included music by K-J Tunes, a limbo contest and a Hula Hoop contest. A bounce house, sprinkler, lawn games and chalk drawing on the walk also kept kids busy. Families could also buy ice cream from Acushnet Creamery, and pay for face painting.
The festive atmosphere had the makings of a regular summer fest type event.
“It’s the simple things the kids love,” said Cheryl Levesque as she watched her granddaughter Amelia play in the sprinkler, face paint smudged and runny.
“She’s having a blast,” said Amelia’s dad, Adam Tyson.

He said they took advantage of the program last summer, too.
“You can’t beat the price,” he said.
“They love it,” said Leimary, who was there with a group of children, her own and others.
She said it was her first year discovering the program and was very happy they found it.
“So the kids can enjoy themselves, so they can talk to other people, have fun, and make memories,” she said.
The program will continue for five more Mondays and runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m., with a special program for children at 10 each week.
