The Miss New Bedford Scholarship Organization is actively seeking contestants for its upcoming “miss” and “teen” competitions. Multiple thousands will be awarded in scholarship prizes; Miss New Bedford will win a $3,500 scholarship alone.
Additionally, both winners receive a year-of-a-lifetime and a chance to compete for additional opportunities at the state level. Win or not, the competition is a confidence and leadership-building program for all who participate.
No experience is necessary. Contestants do not need to be New Bedford residents. Eligibility is open to women ages 13 to 25 who either live, work, or attend school in New Bedford, Acushnet, Assonet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Freetown, Lakeville, Mattapoisett, Rochester, Wareham, or Westport.
Contestants compete in varying phases of competition, depending on whether competing in the teen or miss division. These include talent, evening wear/red carpet, and speaking both on-stage, as well as off-stage in a private interview. There is no swimsuit portion.
