The Summer Reading Program is made free to all public libraries and residents in the Commonwealth thanks to support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, the Massachusetts Library System, and the Boston Bruins. We also appreciate the support of the Fairhaven Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the Friends of the Millicent Library.
Wednesday, June 26th SIGN UPS ALL DAY from 9-5 downstairs. All ages. We’ll begin Registration for the summer program. Drop in anytime to register, get your reading log, have your face painted, and more. If you cannot make it that day, you may drop in to the Children’s Room anytime through July to sign up. Teen helpers are needed! You may enter the ice cream raffle and get a free book!
Thursday, June 27th at 10:30 a.m. Summer Reading Kickoff show DOWNSTAIRS with Davis Bates and Roger Tinknell, funded in part by the Fairhaven Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Summer Reading Sign ups continue in the library upstairs until 5 p.m. Toddlers on up!
A participatory program of songs and stories for all ages. Entitled “A Universe of Songs and Stories,” this concert is an exciting family oriented program that explores a variety of cultural traditions. Hear how the stars came to be in the sky, how foam came to be in the ocean, and be prepared to sing, move and dance. There will be plenty of sing-alongs, a short lesson on how to play the musical spoons and an appearance by a dancing wooden dog named Bingo. A Universe of Songs and Stories is appropriate to all ages
AM Tuesdays, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and August 6th, 10 a.m. Summer Storytime for all ages from babies on up.
PM Tuesdays, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and August 6th, 2:30-4:30 p.m. Teen Tuesday. Entering Grade 6 and up. Join us for some social time, Wii, games, some arts and crafts and book discussions.
Wednesday, July 10, 10:30-12:30. Dr. Toby Dills Tie Dye at the Unitarian Church Lawn on the Walnut Street side of the library. Please bring a pre-washed white cotton T-shirt or other item to dye. OR you may purchase one here. Age 3 and up with parent/caregiver supervision.
Friday, July 12th 10 a.m. to noon. Daisy D. Dots returns to teach her World of Clowning Class. Downstairs. Age 4 and up.

Wednesday, July 24, 10 a.m.-noon. Celebrate the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing! NASA Solar System Ambassador Pat Monteith returns! SIGN UP with Ms. Jane. Space is limited Ages 8 and up.
Wednesday, July 31st 10:30-12:30. Dr. Toby Dills will return to lead the Bottle Rockets program. We’ll start in the downstairs Meeting Room and then go achross to the Unitarian Church Lawn to launch the Rockets. Please bring TWO 2-liter soda bottles (Or more to share!) Ages 3 and up with parent/caregiver supervision.
Friday, August 2nd 10:30 a.m. Dr. Toby Dills returns with his slightly scary stories, Tales from the Talespinner. Downstairs. Ages 4+.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7th! 35th annual Teddy Bear Parade! 10 a.m. to noon on the Unitarian Church Lawn, Walnut Street side of the Library. We’ll march down to Our Lady’s Haven and back. Daisy D. Dots will be on hand to paint faces! We’ll provide Teddy Grahams and juice boxes. Bring your own Teddy Bear Picnic to enjoy.
Saturday, August 10, SPECIAL GRAND FINALE Program. Star Wars with Peter Struzziero! Details to be announced regarding Sign Up times. Program will start at 11:30. Funded by a bequest from James P. Honohan.
