On July 10, the Millicent Library and the Fairhaven Fire Department hosted a fire safety event on the lawn of the Unitarian Church on Green and Walnut Streets in Fairhaven.
The event included firefighters explaining what happens when they are called to a fire to about 170 people.
Firefighters dressed up in their full gear so children could see what they look like and not be afraid if they ever see a firefighter coming through the smoke.
After the presentation, children and their adults were welcome to run through the cool water of the fire hose. Participants also received some fun giveaways, like firefighter hats for children, and Dorothy Cox’s frozen lemonade.
