The Mayflower II, the full scale replica of the ship that brought European settlers to the New World in 1620, rode out tropical storm Isaias in New Bedford Harbor last week, giving locals a surprise chance to see the ship up close. The Mayflower II stayed in the area for a few days, and on a clear and calm Thursday, 8/6, performed sea trials in Buzzards Bay, giving local boaters a chance to see it up close in full sail as it glided along the Eilzabeth Islands. Our own Glenn C. Silva managed to get on the Knott Bad with Capt. Ralph Joseph for some up close shots.
