Press Release
My name is Marcus Ferro. I am a father, an attorney, and a lifelong resident of Fairhaven, and this election I am running for the open seat to return to the Board of Public Works.
Earlier this year my wife, Kayla, and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl Eleanor into the world. Eleanor has inspired me to return to local politics to continue working toward improving the town that she will grow up in and to set an example of serving one’s community that I hope she will one day follow.
I previously served on the BPW from 2020-2023. Around that same time I served as the Chairperson of Fairhaven’s Commission on Disability. Prior to that I served on the Community Preservation Committee and the Historical Commission.
During my time on the BPW, we were able to oversee major projects that saved Town ratepayers money such as upgrades to the treatment plants and an overhaul of the water meter systems.
We also made key personnel decisions that ensure our Department of Public Works is in capable hands for the foreseeable future.
But the accomplishment I am most proud of, is collaborating with the BPW and Commission on Disability to add accessibility mats for the Town Beach on West Island and purchase a new beach wheelchair that allow those who use assisted mobility devices the freedom to enjoy the most pristine shores in the Commonwealth.
I am excited for the opportunity to rejoin my fellow Board Commissioners who steward local government’s most essential functions: water, sewer, clean streets, and safe and accommodating public spaces.
I humbly ask for your vote on Tuesday, June 9th.
