Join us for a special Cinema New Bedford featuring Jenny Slate in person and her new movie Marcel the Shell with Shoes On!
Based on the viral short films about an adorable, world weary little shell, Marcel the Shell stars the ineffable comedian/actress and MA native Jenny Slate, who will join our screening for a live Q&A. The character Marcel was created by Slate and the movie’s director, Dean Fleischer-Camp.
Once part of a sprawling community of shells, Marcel and his grandmother Connie (voiced by THE Isabella Rossellini) now live alone as the sole survivors of a mysterious tragedy. But when a documentary filmmaker discovers them amongst the clutter of his Airbnb, the short film he posts online brings Marcel millions of passionate fans, as well as unprecedented dangers and a new hope at finding his long-lost family. The stop-motion animated film also features appearances by Andy Richter, Leslie Stahl, Jessi Klein and more.
Like all Cinema New Bedford screenings, the audience has the opportunity to continue the conversation after the film, this time with Slate herself. Be sure to bring your questions about Marcel, because Slate’s ready to answer them!
