Main Street closure

The Acushnet Police Department and Fire Departments announced that Main Street, from Wing Road to Hamlin Street will be closed for at least a week starting on Monday, 10/16, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The closure is for work on the sewerage project. Please seek an alternate route and allow extra time for travel!!

A follow-up by Acushnet Fire & EMS stated that the work will take at least two weeks, but Thursday and Friday of this week, the road will be open. Main Street will be open to residents and other local traffic only.

EMS reaches 500 calls

Acushnet Fire & EMS announced that the department’s ambulance has already reached 500 calls this year.

“Last year it took the Fire Division until December 14th to get to 500 calls,” they wrote in a Facebook post. “This year we hit #500 today (October 16), nearly two months earlier then last year! Excellent work by dedicated people — our money is on easily beating last year’s record of 546 calls.”
