Outdoor Movie Night
This Year’s FREE Outdoor Movie Night will be held on Sat., 7/21, (rain date 7/22) at Livesey Park, Glenhaven Ave. & Parker St., Fairhaven.. Grounds open at 6 p.m. with food vendors, bounce house, and other children’s activities. Movie starts at 8:15 p.m.
Disney/Pixar’s movie COCO will be shown for FREE on a 30 ft. screen. Pre-show fun includes a bubble bounce, a DJ, and a meet and greet with Tori Kalisz, Miss New Bedford’s Outstanding Teen.
The concession stand will be open. Del’s Lemonade, Emma Jean’s, The Fairhaven Village Militia and North Fairhaven Improvement Association will also be on hand selling food and treats.
In Disney/Pixar’s vibrant tale of family, fun and adventure, aspiring young musician Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) embarks on an extraordinary journey to the magical land of his ancestors. There, the charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael Garcia Bernal) becomes an unexpected friend who helps Miguel uncover the mysteries behind his family’s stories and traditions.
This year’s movie has been made possible by a mini grant from The United Way of Greater New Bedford, donations from BRW Properties, Fairhaven Improvement Association, North Fairhaven Improvement Association, East Fairhaven Improvement Association, Rotary Club of Fairhaven, BayCoast Bank and private donations.
NFIA Annual Car Cruise
NFIA & Legendary Street Rods Car, Truck & Bike Show and Fun Fair, Sun., 7/22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Livesey Park, Glenhaven Ave. & Parker St., Fairhaven. Rain Date: July 29
The Legendary Street Rods Car Club teams up with the North Fairhaven Improvement Association to present a summertime Car, Truck, and Bike Show and Family Fun Fair at Livesey Park in North Fairhaven.
There will be raffles, awards, music, children’s activities, food and more. Fee to enter a vehicle in the show is $15. Admission to the event is free. Proceeds from the Car Show benefit the New Bedford Veterans Transition House & Cancer Fund. Proceeds from food sales benefit the NFIA and Fairhaven Lions Club. Concerts Under the Stars
The outdoor summer concerts are sponsored by the Fairhaven Improvement Association with the Southern Mass Credit Union and additional sponsorship by local businesses. Bringing the South to southeastern Massachusetts, Whiskey Affliction plays country and southern rock.
Riverside Evening Tour
Riverside Cemetery Evening Tour, Wed., 7/25, 6:00 p.m., Riverside Cemetery, 274 Main St., Fairhaven
Created in 1850 by Warren Delano II, the grandfather of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, this is one of the most beautiful rural-style cemeteries in Massachusetts. The tour visits the final resting places of some of the town’s most prominent people.
You’ll also see lovely examples of early tombstone art as you walk along the beautifully landscaped paths. Tour includes walking on uneven ground. Wear comfortable shoes. Guide: Joanne Zych. Sponsored by the Office of Tourism. Free. Note: Parking is allowed on the roads inside the cemetery, however two or three car lengths must be left open directly inside the gate. There are no public restrooms in the cemetery.
