Lions Club and Scouts to hold flag retirement ceremony

September 1, 2016 by Fairhave Neighborhood News

Please come and join the Fairhaven Lions Club as we host the Fairhaven Boy Scout Troop 52 and Cub Scout Pack 52 Flag Retirement Ceremony of United States Flags. It will be held at Benoit Square, junction of Adams and Main Streets in Fairhaven, at 5 p.m. on Sun., 9/11, in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of September 11 attacks.

Retirement is the term used to define the proper, dignified way of destroying United States flags that are no longer fit to serve the nation.

Flags to be retired may be dropped in the red, white and blue box in front of 267 Adams Street, Fairhaven. Flags may also be brought to the Ceremony so individuals may personally retire a flag in memory of a loved one, for a special event, or any reason of their own.

We invite everyone to attend this memorable event.
