Limericks Are Back!
The Second Annual Millicent’s Limerick Contest is open! Entry forms are available at the library, on the library’s homepage (http://www.millicentlibrary.org), or by emailing friendsofmillicentlibrary@gmail.com. The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. April 12, and winners will be announced at a party on Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m.
New this year is a limerick-writing workshop, at 11 a.m., Sat., 3/23, in the library auditorium, 45 Center St., Fairhaven, Walnut St. entrance. Whether you’re new to limerick writing or your poetic genius needs some fine-tuning, the workshop will be a big help.
The contest is open to people of all ages, with separate prizes for contestants 9 or younger, 10 to 18, and 19+. The judges this year are Cheryl Day (one of last year’s winners), Tim Evans, and Mark Badwey.
A special bonus prize in the sports category will go to the person who writes the best limerick whose first line ends in Gronkowski.
Prizes have been generously donated by Cleary’s Pub, Emma Jean’s, the Euro Store, Kenny’s Garden Center, Mac’s Soda Bar, Oxford Creamery, Pasta House, and Wah May.
