A Vote for Brian Monroe is a Vote for Experience
Fairhaven voters, April 3rd is election day and I urge you to please consider voting for my friend, Brian Monroe, for another three-year term on the Fairhaven School Committee. I have known Brian for almost 10 years now from my days serving as Student Representative on the board to now serving alongside him and my other colleagues on the committee.
I can unequivocally say his perspective still brings value for today’s diverse student body. Brian’s professionalism, collaboration with other committees and boards in town, active listening, parent perspective, and integrity shine through regardless of the issues we deal with as a committee.
What I love most about Brian is his servant leadership mindset of always putting the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of our students first, and his curiosity to learn, particularly when it comes to our LGBTQ+ youth. That, above all else, means the world to me to have a strong ally like him having a seat on the committee to not only have my back, but also the back of all our LGBTQ+ youth in our schools. It’s because of Brian’s roots and respect in the community that we have accomplished the following:
• Town Meeting approved FHS Alumni Stadium Project.
• K-2 literacy program to improve our earliest learners critical thinking and reading comprehension skills.
• Unified Sports program.
• Enhanced before/after school program.
• Family Engagement Center.
• Solar Energy projects at both Leroy Wood and East Fairhaven schools.
I am blessed to know Brian, and my friends on the committee, these past 10 years. A vote for Brian is a vote to continue making our Fairhaven Public Schools the best K-12 institution in the Southcoast.
As a 2014 Class President alum, I am proud to witness first-hand how far our schools have come. Our students have a plethora of academic and exploratory courses that help them seek career pathways they never once envisioned. We have, and continue to seek, social and emotional supports to ensure everyone in the Fairhaven Public School system achieves success.
None of this is possible without consistent leadership. Let’s continue moving our community forward by voting for Brian Monroe — Fairhaven School Committee, for another 3-year term.
Kyle Bueno, Fairhaven School Committee
