Silvia’s Behavior Disturbing
I found the photo of Mr. Silvia refusing to shake Mr. Murphy’s hand quite disturbing. I do not know either of these gentlemen, or the history that they have; however both have been elected by the good people of Fairhaven and will need to work together. If Mr. Silvia cannot accept a professional gesture of a handshake from someone who will be his colleague, then I suggest that he step aside.
The issues that face Fairhaven will take work and respect from each member of the Select Board and in this political climate of course not all members will agree, but must find it in themselves to work for the greater good. Mr. Silvia you needed to show the youngsters of this town how it’s done and to have put your differences aside. You did not show any leadership, by rebuffing Mr. Murphy’s handshake.
Public humiliation calls for public apology and unless you can start new, please let the next person in line take your position.
Linda Tynan-Minardi, Fairhaven
