Letter_Kevin Grant Supports Sylvia

Kevin* Grant Supports Sylvia for State Representative

I would like to take the time to endorse Mark Sylvia for re-election as our State Representative in the 10th Bristol District.

I came to know Mark through his role as Moderator for our Town Meetings, and later by crossing paths at various town functions. I have found him to be thoughtful, direct, and genuinely interested in what our town needs, and that has not changed since he took his seat on Beacon Hill.

Mark’s experience as Fairhaven’s Town Moderator and as Town Manager in Plymouth, combined with his years as Commissioner of Energy Resources and Undersecretary of Energy, gives him an understanding of both municipal and state government that few legislators bring with them. Much of what we take up on the Planning Board, from housing and zoning reform to how we pay for the services residents depend on, is shaped by decisions made at the State House. It matters a great deal to have a representative who knows how those decisions land in a town like ours.

Mark understands there is no easy solution or quick fix to the cost of living, the housing crisis, or balancing our working waterfront with the growth of offshore wind. Still, he has shown he is willing to bring people to the table and have those difficult conversations. As Moderator he made sure every voice at Town Meeting was heard, and that is exactly the kind of representation our district deserves.

Mark has served us well in his first term, and I believe he is more than deserving of my support and your vote on November 3rd.

Kevin Grant, Fairhaven

These views are my own and in no way are meant to represent the views of the Planning Board on which I serve.
