Letter_Hacking Checks All Boxes

Hacking Checks All Boxes

Whether we are in the midst of a pandemic or just managing the day-to-day issues in more normal times, the members of our Board of Health play a critical role in protecting the well being of our community. The policies they set and the actions they take directly affect all of us. For that reason, I am pleased to endorse Heidi Hacking for the Fairhaven Board of Health.

Fairhaven citizens need and deserve a BOH team comprised of highly-skilled professionals with experience in policies, regulations, and risk management. They need to be critical thinkers, effective communicators, and role models who behave in ways that exemplify standards and practices set by the Board. They need to make all decisions based on empirical data, policy, and risk/ benefit ratio. Their ethics and integrity must be beyond reproach.

Ms. Hacking checks all of these boxes and more. Her credentials and healthcare experience are stellar and would add new levels of professionalism and effectiveness to our Board of Health. She brings with her a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Arts in Social Rehabilitative Counseling, and a Master of Science in Management. Heidi also holds certificates in Outcomes Management and Healthcare Quality.

Her clinical healthcare experience includes working in an Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, Medical/ Surgical Units, Geriatric-Psychiatric Facility, and a Chronic Care Facility. Her management experience incudes the roles of Nurse Manager, Supervisor, Educator, Quality Improvement Specialist, and Peer Review Coordinator. Ms. Hacking also has experience working with regulatory agencies such as Department of Public Health.

Heidi currently holds the position of Risk Manager at Saint Luke’s Hospital. Just a sample of her current responsibilities include identifying risks and developing plans to address opportunities to improve the quality of patient care as well as monitoring events and working to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

It is clear to me that Heidi Hacking would bring the perfect blend of knowledge, education, and experience to our Board of Health and would be a huge asset to our town at large. Local public health policy impacts all of our lives. Given the public health issues our community currently faces and will face in the future, we deserve the best.

Heidi Hacking will give us exactly that.

Greg Burns, Fairhaven
