Freedom vs. Socialism and Marxists

The fundamental difference between our form of government, which is a republic Democracy, and Socialism or Marxism and Communism is democracy. The rights f the individual as defined in the Constitution as the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are God given rights and the responsibility of the government is to ensure they are protected. Where in Socialism and Communism, the individual is totally subservient to the state and has no rights. In reality a few individuals seize control and there is no freedom.

The way these Marxists operate is to lie, promise and deceive the people that if they are in power youwill have utopia on earth. State run grocery stores will ensure everyone can get enough food, but they will control who and how much. Everyone gets free or subsidized housing. They’ll say where you can live. In other words, they’ll have complete control over your life.

Presently, many of our universities have professors and teachers who embrace this philosophy and indoctrinate their students with this philosophy. We are not perfect. Our treatment of the Indians was shameful at times. We had slavery. I don’t think enough can be said about how costly it was to abolish slavery. Over 600,000 soldiers died in the Civil War to abolish it.

As I said, we are not perfect. However, at no point in history have so many people enjoyed so much freedom and opportunity. No other government has adopted the concept that individual rights are paramount.

Consider the Bill of Rights, like the first amendment which guarantees the freedom of speech, press, religion and the right to peacefully petition the government, the right to bear arms and others as enshrined in our Bill of Rights. These rights were secured by the men and women who fought and died for them, starting with the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, World War I, WWII and up until today.

My biggest concern for today is that far too many people have lost sight of this. They have become too materialistic and self-centered. Other concerns such as homes, cars, vacations, sports, you name it, have replaced God, family and Country.
