Letter_Culture War in US

Culture War in US

Farmers, carpenters and doctors must focus their minds, through their senses, onto concrete reality to grow wheat, build a house or cure disease. In this light of wisdom, consider the bizarre letters in the 10/2/25 issue of the FNN.

Nounou fears and hates man’s independent mind. Pond has a pseudo-rational, mystical ideal, democracy, that transcends real individual people who are lambs to the slaughter. Bouley completely takes leave of his senses and goes out of his mind with evasion, which he calls faith.

OK, I can do that, too. God has revealed unto me that all three are sinners who will be damned for eternity. It must be true. God said it. Bouley’s God is a false God. Now what? We could imitate the God-fearing, on their knees, Catholics and Protestants who slaughtered each other in the 16th and 17th century religious wars. More people died in individual nations than in WW2. The Constitution recoiled in horror with a wall of separation between church and state. Today’s Christians are chipping away at that wall. Gird your loins and sharpen your spears.

The top modern philosopher, Kant, confessed, “I have denied knowledge therefore, in order to make room for faith.”

No beating around the bush there.

The focused mind is bad. The unfocused mind is good.

The Sermon On The Mount identifies the consequences, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

That’s for hippies and other Leftists, not nationalists and other Rightists.

We have a culture war between the fading rational individualism of the American Revolution and the unfocused minds of Rightists and Leftists, lost inside emotion.

Man needs an absolute moral ideal for spiritual unity and, thus, life. This need is natural, not supernatural. Christianity’s profoundly destructive moral ideal, sacrifice, provides a spiritual misunity based on the unfocused mind. Modern culture has nothing. Religion returns with its thin gruel. It’s better than nothing. But not by much. Mortality in the Christian Dark Ages was 20 years.

There’s a new, rational, moral absolute, man’s focused mind, producing the material and spiritual values needed for life and happiness. It was introduced by Ayn Rand, in her 1957, “Atlas Shrugged”.

It’s basic moral values are reason, purpose and self-esteem. It’s basic moral virtues are honesty, independence, integrity, justice, pride, productiveness, and rationality.

As Stephen Stills sang, “Teach your children well.”
