Bueno Announces School Committee Run
Happy New Year my friends! I don’t know about you, but I am excited about the possibilities and opportunities 2022 will bring for our community. For me, the highest honor would be earning your vote for another three-year term on the School Committee. Thank you to all those who signed my nomination papers and expressed interest in signing to place my name on the ballot. Because of this excitement, we were the second candidate in turning nomination papers right before the holidays! I am grateful for the trust you continue giving me to lead our schools and town forward.
Just three years ago, pre-COVID19 times, I ran as a write-in candidate, knocking on doors throughout Fairhaven and handing out flashcards with my contact information to be placed on the ballot. I was shocked to receive a total of 270 write in votes to give me a shot on the School Committee. And now, the time has come once again to give me another chance at a second term.
Serving with my colleagues on this committee has been an honor of a lifetime. Never could I ever imagine my first term helping lead our Fairhaven Public Schools through a global pandemic. While COVID19 lingers on to this day, we have implemented a vast array of social, emotional, and mental health supports from our K-2 literacy program, to innovation classrooms, enhancing students’ critical thinking and literacy skills.
In collaboration with your representatives at Town Meeting, Fairhaven High School now has a new Turf Field for all our scholars to use and showcase their pride across our region. Our gymnasiums have been upgraded with the latest filtration systems and we continue, in collaboration with medical experts, ensuring our scholars receive in-person learning.
As the 2014 Class President, Student Representative for the School Committee, and lifelong Fairhaven resident, the mission and values of our schools and community runs deep in my soul as education policy remains a focal point in my personal and professional endeavors not just in this current role, but also as an average citizen.
Because of your trust, I am proud to serve as Chair of the first ever Charter Committee, Chair of the Lagoa Friendship Pact Committee, and help raise awareness for diversity, equity, and inclusionary causes deeply personal to me and so many others who feel left behind due to societal constructs.
I am proud of my record and hope to earn your vote for a second term on the School Committee on Monday, April 4th. Please like my Facebook page, Kyle Bueno — Fairhaven School Committee, to learn more.
Thank you, and may all of you have a happy and healthy New Year.
Kyle Bueno, Fairhaven School Committee
